Overseen by a combination of full-time staff members and volunteer moderators, the guidelines are designed to cultivate a respectful, diverse, and productive environment for reader interactions. This policy framework operates in tandem with the overarching Condé Nast User Agreement as well as a specific site addendum that outlines and protects user rights regarding their posted submissions.

Under these rules, typical violations of the community standards are met with initial warnings, though continued infractions or defiance of moderator instructions will escalate to temporary or permanent bans. For highly severe breaches, moderators reserve the right to skip the warning phase entirely and implement immediate bans, especially for newly created accounts lacking a posting history. The policy emphasizes that while rules are explicit, moderators must frequently exercise personal judgment to resolve ambiguous situations and protect the overall well-being of the forum.
