Musk pointed directly to the severe and widespread supply chain disruptions experienced throughout the current year as the primary reason for this updated timeline. He explained that introducing multiple new product lines during a period of such intense component scarcity would be counterproductive, as the company would be unable to deliver them to consumers regardless of design readiness. Initially revealed during a high-profile event in late 2017, the premium electric sports car was marketed with groundbreaking performance claims, including unprecedented acceleration speeds and an exceptionally long driving range per charge, which captured significant public attention.

This latest delay represents another setback for eager consumers who have already committed substantial financial deposits to reserve the vehicle, with reservation fees reaching six figures for the exclusive initial editions.
