Tesla Roadster production delayed to 2022

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has announced that the company's highly anticipated second-generation Roadster has been delayed once again, with production now projected to begin next year.

This represents a significant deviation from the electric vehicle manufacturer's original timeline, as the upscale sports car was first introduced to the public in 2017 with an initial production target set for 2020. Musk pointed to ongoing engineering hurdles as the primary reason for the extended timeline, specifically highlighting the technical difficulties associated with perfecting the vehicle's complex tri-motor drivetrain and its advanced battery pack design.
