Gears of War: E-Day requires ray tracing-capable GPU to play, alongside 115 GB free on an SSD

The development studio behind the upcoming video game Gears of War: E-Day has published the official hardware specifications required to run the title on PC.

A notable takeaway from these requirements is the mandatory need for a graphics card capable of hardware-accelerated ray tracing, rendering older GPUs without this dedicated capability unsupported. To experience the game at lower settings, players will need at least an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or an AMD Radeon RX 6600. However, those aiming for the highest visual quality at 4K resolution and a smooth sixty frames per second must equip their systems with high-end graphics processors like the Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti or the AMD RX 7900 XT. The title will also feature compatibility with various modern upscaling technologies, including DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, which should help lower-tier setups run the game more efficiently.

Beyond the heavy graphics demands, the game's processor and storage needs vary significantly based on target performance. While older processors like the Ryzen 5 2600X represent the absolute minimum, the developers recommend much newer hardware, such as the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, to handle the game's intensive ray-traced reflections and global illumination on ultra settings. System memory requirements are relatively standard, with 12 gigabytes minimum and 16 gigabytes recommended. However, storage is a more demanding hurdle, as the game requires 115 gigabytes of free space specifically on a solid-state drive rather than a traditional mechanical hard drive. These specifications indicate that the upcoming release intends to push the boundaries of modern PC hardware.
