Belkin introduces its first longer-lasting semi-solid-state power banks

Belkin has unveiled its latest lineup of portable chargers, marking the company's entry into the semi-solid-state battery market.

By incorporating a specialized gel substance alongside standard liquid electrolytes, these new accessories are designed to offer significantly enhanced durability, boasting a lifespan up to three times longer than traditional lithium-ion power banks. In addition to their extended longevity, these devices leverage the advanced cell technology to minimize the hazards of overheating, ensuring safer operations and a reduced risk of physical swelling or combustion. The high energy density of the semi-solid-state design also allows these chargers to maintain a more compact and slender form factor compared to older models with equivalent capacities, though they do carry a higher retail price.

The initial release features two distinct models catering to different charging needs. The more compact option is a five-thousand-milliampere-hour magnetic charger that supports Qi2 wireless charging standards, allowing it to snap onto the back of compatible mobile phones and supply power without cords. It also includes a wired option for faster energy delivery, albeit with shared capacity limitations when multiple gadgets are connected. The larger, premium version offers double the capacity alongside a digital display that monitors real-time temperature, current power output, and remaining battery percentage. This higher-end model supports much faster wired charging speeds across multiple ports, serving as a versatile power source for users on the go who require rapid replenishment for multiple electronics.
