More Android phones with Qi2 wireless charging will finally show up in 2025

The Wireless Power Consortium announced a new "Qi2 Ready" certification standard at CES, which is expected to bring the magnetic wireless charging technology to a wider range of Android devices throughout 2025.

This new designation applies to smartphones that do not feature built-in magnets but can achieve full compatibility and magnetic alignment when paired with a specialized case.

This certification explains rumors that upcoming smartphone releases, such as Samsung's Galaxy S25, might rely on external cases for magnetic connection. Google has also pledged its commitment to the evolving standard by sharing its proprietary high-power charging technology, while Panasonic Automotive Systems is contributing to a new in-car dynamic coil alignment feature under the updated specifications.
