Google Find Hub will soon help you locate things without a tracker

Google has officially announced a series of upcoming feature enhancements for Android devices, headlined by an upgrade to its native tracking ecosystem, Find Hub.

The most notable enhancement allows users to track misplaced physical items, such as travel documents or spare keys, without needing to attach physical tracker tags. Through integration with Google's artificial intelligence assistant, Gemini, users can verbally command the system to remember where a specific object has been stored. The assistant logs the location and provides the option to attach a photograph for visual confirmation. When the item is eventually needed, the user can prompt the assistant for its location or browse a dedicated tab within the Find Hub application. This feature is slated to launch on smartphones operating on Android 16 or later in regions where both the AI assistant and tracking services are active.

Beyond the tracking upgrades, the software release includes several accessibility and productivity improvements across the Android platform. An innovative motion assistance tool mimics similar automotive comfort technologies by displaying moving on-screen dots that react to a vehicle's motion, helping to minimize screen-induced motion sickness. Meanwhile, an AI-guided camera feature helps users read tiny text on labels or find specific pantry items, offering spoken feedback to ensure proper camera alignment. Google is also rolling out cosmetic updates to its messaging application, introducing customizable chat themes that coordinate with text bubble colors. Lastly, the company has integrated collaborative note-making tools into chats, allowing participants to cooperatively edit shared lists and plans without leaving their messaging threads.
