Range Rover’s new EV looks just like a regular Range Rover — that’s refreshing

Jaguar Land Rover has officially unveiled the Range Rover Electric, marking the brand's initial entry into the battery-electric vehicle segment.

Notably, the new SUV rejects the ultra-futuristic, unconventional designs common among contemporary electric vehicles, opting instead to retain the exterior styling of its traditional internal combustion counterparts. Beneath this familiar aesthetic lies an all-wheel-drive powertrain propelled by twin electric motors and a double-stacked 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup produces 542 horsepower and an estimated real-world driving range of 330 miles, while its 800-volt charging architecture allows drivers to quickly replenish the battery using high-speed chargers.

Beyond its standard driving capabilities, the vehicle introduces several proprietary engineering advancements, including an ultra-fast grip control system that adjusts motor power within milliseconds to counter tire slippage on hazardous surfaces. To support its off-road heritage, the electric SUV features a specialized one-pedal driving mode tailored for navigating steep gradients, fully sealed electrical components capable of wading through nearly three feet of water, and an integrated heat pump designed to optimize battery efficiency in cold climates. Production is scheduled to take place at the automaker's Solihull manufacturing facility, with retail pricing starting at approximately $140,450 in the United States.
