Apple brought ceramic back for the Series 12

Apple has reintroduced a ceramic casing option for its newly announced Apple Watch Series 12, marking the return of this highly durable material to its wearable lineup for the first time since the release of the Series 5 in 2019.

Available in pearl white and night blue finishes, this luxury version is positioned as an exceptionally scratch-resistant alternative to the standard titanium and aluminum models. The ceramic versions carry a significantly higher price tag than the standard watches, starting at nearly nine hundred dollars and increasing further for the larger physical size. This premium pricing positions the ceramic watches well above the entry-level cost of the standard Series 12 models.

The decision to offer ceramic reflects a continuation of the company's historical experimentation with upscale materials for its smartwatch product line. While the technology giant originally debuted its wearable category with an extremely expensive solid gold edition, it later pivoted to ceramic for several subsequent iterations before transitioning primarily to stainless steel and titanium in more recent years. Although Apple has not revived the specific "Edition" branding previously used to market its most luxurious timepieces, the pricing structure for these newly introduced ceramic variants indicates they are aimed squarely at consumers willing to pay a premium for enhanced aesthetics and superior physical resilience.
