Apple starts preorders for Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 with new Health Sensing System

Apple has unveiled its newest smartwatch models, the Watch Series 12 and the Ultra 4, which introduce a sophisticated biometric tracking mechanism powered by the upgraded S11 processor.

This updated configuration utilizes a redesigned circular photodiode array and expanded electrode contact zones to gather cardiovascular data with much greater frequency and efficiency. The hardware enhancements allow the watches to capture heart rate variability data multiple times more often than previous versions, providing users with highly detailed insights into their physiological stress and recovery levels. Additionally, the system introduces a new metric to determine daily physical preparedness on a scale from zero to ten, which continuously updates throughout the day based on the wearer's rest, training load, and active movement.\n\nTo complement the hardware, Apple plans to update its mobile wellness application to incorporate advanced mobility assessments using camera-assisted intelligence alongside wearable data. This update will also offer users access to biological age estimates and facilitate the booking of comprehensive biomarker laboratory tests directly through the digital platform. On the device itself, several artificial intelligence-driven features have been integrated, such as a tool that transcribes the last moments of a conversation and another that generates summaries of spoken interactions. Both smartwatch models are currently available for advance orders and are slated to begin customer deliveries in mid-September, with the ruggedized variant positioned at a higher premium tier compared to the standard model.
