Warcraft I and II get a new remaster that’s available now

During its recent anniversary broadcast celebrating three decades of the franchise, developer Blizzard Entertainment officially launched a new compilation package titled the Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest, which is currently available for purchase on its online platform.

This package contains completely overhauled versions of the first two classic real-time strategy entries alongside a significant version 2.0 patch for the previously criticized third game remaster. The updated versions of the initial two games replace the original low-resolution visual sprites and environmental maps with highly detailed, high-definition digital artwork while also introducing modern quality-of-life control adjustments to streamline the overall gameplay experience. Notably, while the revised third title is compatible with macOS systems, the remastered editions of the first two installments are restricted to Windows personal computers.

The new edition of the third installment represents an extensive effort by the developer to address the widespread dissatisfaction and technical criticisms surrounding its initial 2020 release. This major visual update introduces fully customizable graphical layouts, enhanced environmental details, and the convenient capability to run the experience using original high-resolution classic graphics. Beyond these real-time strategy updates, the company detailed several other upcoming franchise expansions during its presentation. These include a StarCraft-themed crossover event for the digital card game Hearthstone scheduled for early 2025, an upcoming PC beta testing phase for the mobile title Warcraft Rumble, and fresh legacy content updates for the World of Warcraft online ecosystem. Players can choose to purchase the collective package or obtain each updated title individually.
